The Madurai Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) successfully hosted an Awareness Program on Commodity Derivatives and a One-Day Seminar on SEBI (LODR) & FEMA on January 31, 2025, at Hotel Metropole, Madurai. The event saw the participation of numerous professional Company Secretaries, Chartered Accountants, Cost Management Accountants, and students pursuing CS courses.

1. Mr. Sooraj from the Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. conducted an Awareness Program on Commodity Derivatives. He provided insights into the functioning of commodity markets, risk management, and the role of derivatives in hedging and speculation.

2. CS R. Prakash, a Company Secretary, discussed RPT beyond Section 188 and Key Amendments in Listing Regulations. His session focused on related party transactions (RPT) and recent regulatory changes affecting listed companies.

3. CS A.N.S. Vijay, a Practicing Company Secretary, navigated the evolving landscape of FEMA Transactions: Recent Developments and Key Insights. He elaborated on the complexities of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) regulations, including FDI, ODI, flip, and reverse flip structures.

Interactive Session on FEMA/ Foreign Exchange Law:

The Foreign Exchange Law session was made engaging through a live quizzing format, encouraging active participation from all attendees. The discussion covered the opening up of India's Government Debt Market to the world by including Government Securities (G-Sec) in global indexes. This move is expected to attract more foreign investments and enhance the liquidity of Indian debt instruments.
